Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions regulate the use of The Book Alchemist website and services, including subscription boxes, standalone products, and limited edition items. By accessing our website or purchasing our products, you consent to these terms under Australian consumer law, including the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) stipulated in the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).

 

1. Definitions

  • We/Us/Our: Refers to The Book Alchemist.
  • You/Your: Refers to the user, customer, or subscriber of our services.
  • Services: Refers to our website, subscription boxes, “Date Night with a Book” products, limited edition books, Bookish Bundles, Pamper Bundles, and any other products or offerings provided by The Book Alchemist.

 

2. Use of Website 

  • You must be 18 years old to use this website or purchase our products.
  • You agree to use this website lawfully and responsibly without engaging in activities that may harm or interfere with its functionality, security, or intellectual property.
  • We reserve the right to modify or terminate the website or services without prior notice.

 

3. Subscriptions and Other Products

  • Subscription Details:
    • The Book Alchemist offers monthly subscription boxes featuring curated books, self-care items, and treats.
    • By subscribing, you agree to pay the subscription fee for the chosen term and understand your subscription is continuous until cancelled.
  • Non-Subscription Details:
    • Limited edition books and one-off products, such as “Date Night with a Book,” are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability. Limited edition items are non-returnable unless they are damaged or faulty.
  • Subscription Renewal:
    • By signing up for a subscription, you understand and agree that you will be charged at the standard rate upon renewal. Any promotional codes or discounts applied as a new customer do not transfer or apply to the renewal fee.
    • You must cancel your subscription before renewal if you do not wish to continue. The Book Alchemist does not accept responsibility or offer refunds for automatic renewals if you fail to cancel before your next billing cycle.
    • If your subscription is not cancelled before the final payment date of your initial term, your subscription will automatically renew for a new term of the same duration (e.g., month-to-month, 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months).
    • YOUR SUBSCRIPTION IS CONTINUOUS UNTIL YOU CANCEL. If you do not cancel before the renewal date, you will be automatically billed for the next subscription period.
  • Cancellation Policy:
    • You may cancel your subscription anytime by logging into your account on The Book Alchemist website.
    • Cancellation requests must be completed 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next subscription period.
    • If you cancel your subscription after the renewal date, the cancellation will take effect for the following billing cycle, and you will receive the box for the renewed period.
    • You will still be charged for the remainder if you cancel your membership before the end of an existing subscription commitment period (e.g., 3-month, 6-month, or 12-month subscriptions).
    • Discounts applied to the first box or subscription are only valid if you complete the initial subscription term. If you cancel before the term ends, you must pay the total standard rate for any discounted boxes already received.
  • Commitment Terms:
    • Month-to-month subscriptions can be cancelled after receiving the first box, provided the cancellation is made before the next billing cycle.
    • If you sign up for a 3-month, 6-month, or 12-month subscription, you agree to remain subscribed for the entire commitment period. You cannot cancel these plans early and must pay for the entire subscription period.
    • This policy protects The Book Alchemist from abuse of discounts or promotional offers provided to new subscribers.
  • Responsibility for Cancellation:
    • The Book Alchemist is a subscription service, and it is your sole responsibility to manage and cancel your subscription. The company will not cancel your subscription on your behalf.
    • If you fail to cancel your subscription before the renewal date, you will be charged for the next subscription period, and a box will be sent to you.
  • Allergies and Suitability Disclaimer:
    • The Book Alchemist may include consumable or skincare products in subscription boxes, Pamper Bundles, or other offerings. The customer is responsible for reviewing all product labels, ingredient lists, and suitability before use or consumption. The Book Alchemist is not liable for allergic reactions, skin sensitivities, or other adverse effects caused by such products. Customers with specific allergies or sensitivities should consult the product manufacturer directly for detailed information.

 

4. Pricing and Taxes

  • Payment for pre-orders must be made at the time of purchase. Prices are listed in AUD and include GST where applicable. All orders are subject to availability, and pre-ordered items will ship as per the timeline provided at the time of purchase.

 

5. Intellectual Property

  • All content on our website, including text, images, logos, and designs, is the intellectual property of The Book Alchemist.
  • Without written consent, you may not reproduce, distribute, or use our intellectual property.

 

6. Limitation of Liability

  • To the extent permitted by law, The Book Alchemist is not liable for:
    • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services.
    • Losses or damages caused by third-party service providers (e.g., payment processors or delivery carriers).
  • Our liability for any breach of consumer guarantees under the ACL is limited to:
    • Replacing the goods or services.
    • Repairing the goods or resupplying the services.
  • While The Book Alchemist takes reasonable care to source high-quality consumables and skincare products, we are not liable for any adverse effects caused by their use or consumption. By purchasing our products, you agree to release The Book Alchemist from any claims or damages arising from such use.

 

7. User Obligations and Conduct

  • You agree not to:
    • Interfere with the website's operation or security.
    • Use the website for unlawful purposes or activities.
    • Misuse or infringe upon our intellectual property.
  • Breach of these obligations may terminate your access to our services.

 

8. Termination of Access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to our services at any time without prior notice for breaches of these terms, misuse of promotional offers, fraudulent activities, or other reasonable grounds.

 

9. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures to perform our obligations due to events beyond our control, such as natural disasters, pandemics, or interruptions to supply chains.
